CM Mukul Sangma Dares Rebel MLAs to Quit Before Election 2018

On Wednesday, the Meghalaya chief minister Mukul Sangma was speaking to the media. While addressing the media he dared rebel Congress legislators to resign from the assembly before the next year’s elections.

CM Mukul Sangma told the media in Shillong.”We know all who will resign. We will be happy to see if they resign as MLAs. That is why we have given enough time. If somebody has the courage, let them resign as MLAs”.

The chief minister was showing his reaction on the resignation of the Power Minister and a veteran Congress legislator Comingone Ymbon from the Cabinet. It must be noted that Ymbon, tendered his resignation on Monday, along with other Congress legislators Rowel Lyngdoh, Prestone Tynsong, Sniawbhalang Dhar, and Ngaitlang Dhar. The politicians are expected to contest the assembly elections on National People’s Party (NPP) tickets. When the CM was asked about Bharatiya Janata Party and the NPP for tagging him the “most corrupt politician”, the chief minister reverted that he would seek legal recourse against such allegations.

CM Sangma said,”It is not my job to clarify. My job is to drag them to court. People who do not have issues to raise are demonstrating their frustration and anger”. The Meghalaya Assembly Elections for the 60-member assembly will be held in February-March 2018.
