The Election watchdog of the Country, Election Commission of India(ECI) likely to announce the dates of the elections today. The three states including Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Tripura are scheduled for the elections next month.
NE states ready for single phased elections
The three northeastern states including Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Tripura are scheduled for the assembly elections next month and the Election Commission is likely to announce the dates of these polls on Friday, the sources say.
The terms of the Assemblies in Meghalaya, Nagaland and Tripura — with 60 seats each-will expire on 6, 13 and 14 March respectively.
Before this, the elections will be conducted that will be conducted in a single phase in all the three states as the information received.
Apart from this, the final electoral rolls of the two out of three states has been released and as per the data received, the final electoral rolls of Tripura consist of 25,69,216 voters.
For the first time, the third gender option was included in the final rolls and 11 people had registered their names under the category.
Of the remaining 25,69,205 voters, 13,03,420 are males and 12,65,785 females.
