The Phehinu Mezoma village which falls under Kohima district on Friday celebrated its Golden Jubilee organized by the Mezo-Kuotsu Khel Public Organization (MKKPO).
Bizo M. Kuotsu, additional controller and head of department, legal metrology and consumer protection department was the chief guest of the programme. While addressing the gathering, Bizo lauded the pioneers and leaders of the Khel in their efforts towards the welfare of the village organization as well as encouraged the Khel members to excel in their respective works and set good examples. He reminded the gathering that Jubilee was not just a time for celebration but also to retrospect and move ahead with a greater vision.
With reference to the report of the Mezo-Kuotsu research committee, Bizo informed that members of the Khel were spread in 66 villages across the various states of North East ( Assam, Arunachal, Mizoram, Manipur) and Myanmar. He, therefore, requested the members of the Khel to work together in unity so as to bring in greater good and strengthen the relationship between the various North-East states as well.
Er. Neisievelie Lhousa was the convenor of the programme and the welcome address was given by MKKPO president Neithovielie Kuotsu. Other highlights of the programme included an invocation by Lavikho Kitshii, special folk songs presented by Kuotsupfiiko, Phetsuma youth, Phesa Kuotso youth and Mezo Kuotsu youth and vote of thanks by Kezhaselie k. Kuotsu, Secretary organizing committee.
According to sources, the Jubilee programme was attended by more than 800 people where members of different tribal communities belonging to the Chakesang, Rengma and Zeliang Kuotsu were also seen.
