Guwahati: Good news finally has come for the state. Sources informed that the National Green Tribunal (NGT) has finally ordered to establish All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Changsari in Kamrup District on the outskirts of the Guwahati city. Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of a unit of the AIIMS at Changsari on 22nd June 2017.

Sources also stated that the proposed establishment of AIIMS at Changsari has created controversies across the state as some people were demanding it to be established in Raha, Nagaon instead of Changsari as they claimed the location at Changsari to be an eco-sensitive zone where no kind of construction activities could be allowed which would harm the natural ecosystem.

It will have a hospital comprising 750 beds, a medical college for 100 MBBS students annually, a nursing college for 60 students each year and 22 super specialty departments including 16 operation theatres.
