Meet Young Mizo Woman who becomes first to complete Air Force training in US

Mizoram women are the masters of all trades. While in some parts of the nation, women are subjected to dowry harassment, torture, and even infanticide, it is astounding to see how in this part of the country, women are fiercely independent.

Meet Zoenpari, a young Mizo lady who has made her state proud after becoming the first woman to join US Air Force and to complete training at the US Air Force.

Zeonpari Chhakchhuak (19) daughter of Pu Dave Chhakchhuak and Pi Zothannguri Ralte belongs to Chhinga Veng, Aizawl.

She has completed her SSLC from Little Kingdom School with distinction, and her HSSLC at Dawrpui School of Science and Technology with success securing the first position. After which she continued her BSc 1st semester at Zirtiri College. She had to later drop off in 2014 since she went to other states.

Zeonpari successfully qualified her USAF examination in the previous year May 2017 by receiving outstanding percentage in her exams. After that, she joined the Basic Military Training (BMT) Fort from July 2017 at Sam Houston, San Antonio; Texas.

The young lady finished her first phase of training in January 2018, graduating with 94%. Now She will continue her training from February 2018 to October at the Andrew’s Airforce Base, Virginia.

According to research it has been found that Mizoram women ‘s dreams soar high. Most girls who reside in the hostel are either in school or college, want to become doctors, nurses, teachers, get a job in other cities across India or even plan to take up jobs outside the country. Some even want to become entrepreneurs. Marriage for these Mizoram women is not on the cards till they know for sure that they have chosen the right partner.
