Aizawl: The probationers of the Mizoram Civil Services visited the Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare (CIJW) School at Vairengte from December 5 to December 8. During their stay, the contingent consisted of eight probationers interacted with General M S Ghura, VSM, Commandant CIJW School and other instructors and staff, the report said.
According to sources, the programme for the Mizoram Civil Services Probationers included visiting the Information and Research Centre at the School, which is a repository of knowledge regarding terrorism, insurgency and Naxalism in the country as well as in abroad. The probationers also went through various firing and field exercises.
The three-day programme culminated with the MCS Probationers giving a talk on the role and functioning of the civil administration. The Probationers were inspired and impressed by the patriotism, ethos and traditions of this world-famous counterinsurgency and jungle warfare school, Col C Konwer, Public Relations Officer (Defence) said.

The CIJWS in Vairengte, Mizoram, India is a training and research establishment of the Indian Army specializing in unconventional warfare, especially counter-insurgency and guerrilla warfare. CIJWS is one of the premier counter-insurgency training institutions in the world. The school’s motto is to fight the guerrilla like a guerrilla.
