Mizoram: Five Arrested for Heroin Smuggling
- Mizoram Excise and Narcotics department officials have seized 236 grams of heroin.
- The seized contraband worth around Rs 11.50 lakhs.
Aizawl: A heroin smuggling has again come to the light where Mizoram Excise and Narcotics department officials have seized 236 grams of heroin from separate places in Aizawl and arrested five persons on charges of smuggling heroin.
According to the spokesperson, they have been booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. While sources said that the seized contraband worth around Rs 11.50 lakhs was reportedly smuggled from neighbouring Myanmar via Champhai district.
965 gm Heroin Seized, Three Arrested
Earlier in the incident, Mizoram police had seized 965 gm of heroin worth Rupees 34.50 lakh from two places in Mizoram.
According to the sources, the seizure was reportedly the largest-ever heroin haul in the state so far. Along with the banned drugs, three persons have been also arrested in this connection and booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
According to a Police Officer, A Myanmarese national is identified as Vanlalliana who has been arrested He hails from Saeh village in the Tiddim district of Myanmar.
In another Incident, the police have also seized 55 gm of heroin in Aizawl and arrested two persons in this connection.
The persons are identified as Guhe Ahamad Laskar (42) and Saidul Islam Laskar (22), both are from Cachar district in Assam, the Officer added.
