Nagaland is in its final stage of preparations ahead of Assembly Elections for 60 constituencies. Meanwhile, 34oo Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines arrived in the state and for ensuring security, around 77 CRPF companies have been deployed.

VVPATs to be deployed in all 2,196 polling booths

Elections for the 60 assembly seats of Nagaland to be held on February 27 along with Meghalaya and for this, the state is under its final preparations for the elections.

Under the direction of Chief Election Officer of Nagaland, Abhijit Sinha, the state has received 3400 Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines, these machines will be deployed in all the 2196 polling booths in the state, informed by CEO Sinha.

In order to conduct the elections peacefully, the Election Commission has also ordered the paramilitary forces of the country to take the charge and a total of 281 companies of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) will be deployed in the state to ensure the smooth conduct of polls.

As per the information, out of 281 companies, around 77 companies arrived in the state to take the charge and deployed in various regions of the state.

According to the CEO, the companies which have arrived are being utilized for area domination, Mobile Vehicle Check Posts, environmental security etc.

The remaining 204 companies will be arriving in Nagaland after completion of the Tripura assembly elections slated for February 18, Sinha informed.

The CEO further informed that the companies which have arrived in Nagaland include the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and Railway Protection Force (RPF).

The sections of the CAPF have also been deployed at Static police check posts to check the inflow of cash, arms, liquor and other illegal items, CEO informed the officials.

The state will vote on upcoming February 27 and the results will be declared on March 3.
