Kohima: A Congress party member has been arrested by the cyber-crime police on charges of creating and posting the December 20 fake/forged letter, the reports said.

As per sources, one Dietho Rhakho, working president of the Dimapur district Congress committee has been arrested on charges of creating and posting the December 20 fake/forged letter which said the T.R. Zeliang cabinet had, in pursuance to the resolution adopted in the Assembly and owing to strong public demand to resign for paving way to bring an early settlement of Naga political issue, the chief minister and his team of cabinet ministers tender their resignation with immediate effect.

Following the FIR filed by the CM’s office on December 20, the cyber police registered a case under Sections 417/ 419/ 465/ 468/ 469/ 500/ 501/505 of the IPC read with Section 66 (D) of the IT Act and investigation was taken up to book the person/persons/group/groups or organisation/organisations responsible for “spreading” fake news item/documents with “malicious” intent.

According to SP (crime and PRO), Temjensenla Jamir, on Tuesday evening, the accused has admitted that he had created and circulated the fake/forged letter.

T. R. Zeliang is an Indian politician who is serving as the Chief Minister of Nagaland, a state in northeast India, since July 2017; he previously served as Chief Minister from May 2014 to February 2017.
