Nagaland: State Begins Winter Session at Legislative Assembly

Kohima: Nagaland Assembly has finally begun its winter session at the Nagaland Legislative Assembly on Thursday. The 19th session of the 12th Nagaland assembly started with obituary references by the Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Dr Imtiwapang Aier in memory of the passing away of former members Late Kiyaneilie Peseyie, Late N. Yeangphong Konyak, Late Viyekha Rengma and Late Kiyelho Sema, sources informed.

During the session, Chief Minister also presented various reports concerning the Nagaland Public Service Commission, Nagaland Information Commission and the Nagaland School Education Service Rules, 2017.

Nagaland Chief Minister T R Zeliang moved a resolution in the Assembly and said that the Centre to take steps for an “honourable solution” to the Naga political issue before the Assembly elections due in early 2018. T.R. Zeliang also presented the Audit Report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India on the Account of the Nagaland Khadi and Village Industries Board from 2011- 2015.

Introduction of the Resolution in the House to revoke the Assembly Resolution passed on 24th November, 2016 on the Municipal Act, 2006 was moved by T. R. Zeliang, while Levi Rengma, Chairman of the Select Committee on the Nagaland Lokayukta Bill, 2015 presented the report of the Select Committee for consideration and adoption, it added.
