Kohima: NSCN-IM has again come to the front with some statements. In the recent, NSCN leaders have attended a consultative meeting where village headmen and Naga representatives from the Rengma Naga Hills and Karbi Anglong in Assam underscored the need for getting back land for Nagas once a final solution is arrived at by the Centre and NSCN-IM. The meeting was held at the NSCN-IM headquarters in Hebron, Nagaland, the sources informed.
NSCN leaders further stated that the Framework Agreement is the highway for complete independence of the Nagas. It may be mentioned that the state Assam is witnessing a bitter protest in several areas demanding to make public the framework agreement inked between the Centre and NSCN-IM. The Congress organized a protest in Upper Assam on Saturday. Assam and Nagaland already have a boundary dispute and there are several areas upon which both states lay claim.
Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagaland
The NSCN is a Greater Naga Revolutionist, Christian Naga nationalist insurgent group operating mainly in Northeast India, with minor activities in northwest Myanmar (Burma) until 2012. The main goal of the organization is to establish a sovereign Naga state, “Nagalim”, which would consist of all the areas inhabited by the Naga people in Northeast India and Northwest Myanmar.
Two major factions of NSCN include NSCN (K), led by Khaplang; and NSCN (I-M), led by Isak Chishi Swu and Thuingaleng Muviah.
