The Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on his visit to the two Northeastern states today. On his maiden visit to Mizoram, PM inaugurates Tuitial Hydro Power Project and also wished the populace for the upcoming festival and the new year.

We will build a network of highways and road in NE-PM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on his visit to the Northeastern states Mizoram and Meghalaya. During his visit to Mizoram, PM inaugurated the Hydro Power project facilitating the state and the nation as well.

This is Mizoram’s first large hydropower project which should be able to boost the socio-economic development of the state. Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s government cleared the project back in 1998 but got delayed. The huge reservoir is spread over an area of 45 square kilometers.

PM, during his visit also addressed the populace and talks about the development of the state.

He referred to the development in the Northeast during Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s regime and said how his ministers have visited the region around 150 times.

He also said resources are being devoted to the significant progress in the Northeast.

“We are betting on skills & strengths of India’s youth. We believe in ’empower through enterprise’, which is creating the right ecosystem for innovation & enterprise to flourish so that our land is home to the next big ideas that can transform humanity,” says the PM.

“Building a New India by 2022 requires us to work towards the twin goals of increasing economic growth as well as ensuring that the fruits of growth are shared by all,” PM added.

Adding to this, PM said, “Under the Bharatmala Project, we will build a network of highways and road in the North-East region”.

Talking about the ‘Act East Policy’, PM said, “the Union Government has been proactively following the ‘Act East Policy’. As a gateway to South East Asia, Mizoram stands to gain immensely from this. It can emerge as a key transit point for trade with Myanmar and Bangladesh”.

PM during his speech he also talked about the Power of Football and the state having dominance in this, PM said, “The soft-power of football can become Mizoram’s global identity”.

Along with the inauguration of Power Project, he will also launch ‘MyDoNER App’ and will distribute cheques to the Start-up Entrepreneurs Aizawl on the occasion, said a statement issued by Union Ministry of Power.

After this, PM Modi is scheduled to visit Meghalaya and as per the programme, the Prime Minister will land at Upper Shillong helipad at 1 pm from Mizoram.

Then he will proceed to Sports Training Centre Complex at Polo Grounds and at 1.30 pm where he will unveil the plaque to mark the inauguration of Shillong-Tura road, the programme will last for 10 minutes.

Later, he will address the public rally organized by BJP at Ground Number 5 from 1.40 pm to 2.30 pm named as Rally for Change. Then he will leave for Upper Shillong helipad for his return journey.

Meghalaya is on the verge of Assembly elections and the political parties are preparing to make grounds.

Bharatiya Janata Party is also optimistic there would be a “BJP and Modi wave” in the state after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit here on Saturday.

The reason why BJP has organized this public rally to give a kick-start to the Election Campaign in the state.
