It’s that time of the year when the whole country is abuzz with student elections. In the state of Tripura, Left student alliance Students’ Federation of India (SFI) and Tribal Student’s Union (TSU) is set to win as RSS’s Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) failed to gather enough candidates for the elections.

SFI-TSU will win the Tripura college council elections 2017 with relative ease

This year, various political outfits are fighting for a total of 778 office bearers and class representatives in the college student council elections 2017.

The last date to submit the nomination papers was September 6 and the inspection cleared that SFI-TSU would win the elections as they have majority of candidates fighting in the elections. The final result is yet to be declared. The council elections are for 393 Office Bearers seats and 385 Class Representatives seats, among 778 seats.

The reports say that frustrated over their failure to recruit candidates for the Tripura college council elections 2017, the ABVP supporters attacked the closed council rooms to disrupt the election process.

It was reported that ABVP supporters tried to enter the Fatikroy College of Kumarghat to disturb the nomination process last Monday. On Tuesday, BBMC College students claimed that a similar attempt was made by the ABVP.

SFI leaders also alleged that some unknown shouting ‘Bharat Mata ki Jay’ attacked the council room while the nomination process was going on. The leaders also alleged that the students damaged photographs of Mahatma Gandhi, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, and other leaders inside the room.
