- BJP is making grounds in Tripura ahead of Assembly polls in 2018
- On the contrary, the state is witnessing formation of a new party in the state
- ADI BJP is the new political group founded by BJP’s veteran leader
Tripura is on the verge of elections for 60 assembly seats and for that only two months left. Meanwhile, the state has witnessed the formation of a new political group in the state ahead of Polls.
Parikshit Debbarma-the founder of ADI BJP
Bhartiya Janta Party(BJP) is trying hard to make its ground in the Left-ruled state Tripura. Meanwhile, the veteran leader of BJP Parikshit Debbarma has formed an another party that has been named as ADI BJP.
Talking about the party symbol, it has chosen eye-lamp on the lotus as a symbol ahead of Tripura Legislative Assembly Elections.
The idea behind forming this party is to focus on furthering political ideologies followed by the BJP stalwarts rather than working to gain power only.
According to Debbarma, “ADI BJP is formed to follow the real ideologies of the BJP rather than running after power”.
He also claimed that the BJP is currently in both the Centre and the state focuses on ‘regional mindset’ being a national party.
Making allegations on BJP, the newly formed party chief Parikshit Debbarma said, “BJP is not following party’s ideologies. It deals only in power-boosting politics”.
Besides the symbol, the ADI BJP has finalized their slogan as well that is ‘Jai Bharati Maa’, modifying the BJP’s slogan ‘ Bharat Mata ki Jai’.
Adding to this, the party also placed the portraits of Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyaya and Rabindra Nath Tagore in the newly-formed party office.
Though Debbarma himself will not be contesting the upcoming elections, he plans to field candidates in Tripura, Meghalaya, and Mizoram too.
Further informing on the matter, Debbarma said, “We want to go for a grand alliance with all the indigenous political parties including INPT, IPFT, NCT and also with Congress and Trinamool Congress for February polls”.
All these parties are the rivals of BJP and if this alliance happens BJP will receive a severe jolt and this will act as a negative point for the BJP in contesting polls next year.
The ADI BJP comprised of mainly leaders and activists associated with BJP for a long period.
Debbarma has already sent his resignation to the state as well as national committees.
Parikshit Debbarma, who is the founder of this new political party is the veteran leader who was associated with BJP since the late 90s.
He was the President of BJP’s indigenous wing and also contested in Assembly polls in 2013 from Shantirbazar constituency and 2014 Lok Sabha.
He was national executive council member till he was in BJP.
Meanwhile, the BJP on Monday expelled him from the party for his alleged involvement in anti-party activities, as stated in a press communique.
On the formation of the new party, BJP spokesman Subrata Chakraborty said, “If anyone wants to disassociate with us and form a new party, it is his own choice. But one should not accuse us of not following political ideologies. Our party respects all veteran leaders but don’t give unnecessary privilege to anyone if he doesn’t possess required potentiality,” he said.
