The Educators under the Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan(SSA) are in major trouble these days as the date of High Court verdict to terminate the 10,323 teachers in reaching soon. For this, the teachers led an agitation in the state and blocked the railway tracks and national highway as well.
No untoward incident was reported
The state police on Saturday cleared the railway tracks and Assam-Agartala National Highway, which were blocked by a section of agitating teachers demanding security of their jobs at Sindhukumarpara in Dhalai district.
Harkumar Debbarma, SP (Police Control) said the blockades were lifted at around 2 pm and the vehicles have started plying.
Along with this the police also imposed a prohibitory order under 144 Crpc at around 1.30 pm and the agitation on the highway and the rail tracks were declared illegal.
Later the police came into action arrested many agitators, agitating in various areas.
However, no untoward incident was reported during this uplift and arrest made by the police.
As per the reports, around 70 people were arrested and kept inside a government school for some time.
Around 500 teachers of the breakaway faction blocked road and railway at Sindhukumarpara in Dhalai district recently.
The convener of the breakaway faction of All Tripura 10,323 Teacher’s Association, Uttam Kumar Dey said, the teachers would intensify their agitation after a discussion among the colleagues.
A division bench of the Tripura High Court in May 2014 had passed the verdict of terminating 10,323 teachers due to the faulty appointment system.
On this, a petition was filed in the Supreme Court that later upheld the High Court judgement in March 2017. Now the apex court may conduct a hearing on the matter in the coming dates before December 31, the date decided for termination.
